Lamb

Lamb supply across the state dropped 20% week-on-week, to 18,713 head in total.

• Numbers at Hamilton were down 55%, penning 2,302 head
• Supply at Horsham decreased 3%, to 1,746 head
• Bendigo throughput lifted 4%, to 9,752 head
• Ballarat penned 31% fewer lambs, with 4,913 head in total

Light weight 1 score Merino lambs to restockers averaged 283¢, while 2 score Merinos returned 445¢/kg cwt. First cross 2 score lambs averaged 547¢, back 6¢ and those to slaughter eased 11¢ on 571¢/kg cwt.

Trade weight 3 score lambs to processors were 10¢ dearer, on 591¢, and heavier trade types averaged 589¢, up 11¢/kg cwt.

Heavy weight 3 score lambs sold to processors 14¢ cheaper, with lighter descriptions averaging 586¢ and heavier types returning 604¢/kg cwt.

Mutton

Mutton offerings lifted 17% week-on-week, to 19,890 head.

• Consignments at Horsham increased by 63%, to 3,634 head
• Supply at Bendigo reached 8,998 head, down 4%
• Hamilton penned a decreased yarding of 2,646 head
• Ballarat throughput  increased 63%, to 4,612 head

Light weight 1 score Merino ewes were 36¢ cheaper, on 321¢, while 2 scores were 16¢ cheaper, on 358¢/kg cwt. The medium weight 2 score Merino ewes returned an average of 360¢, down 13¢/kg cwt.

Medium 2 score Merino wethers eased 4¢, to average 370¢, and 3 score Merinos were 12¢ cheaper on 383¢/kg cwt. Those in the heavy weight category jumped 5¢, to 399¢/kg cwt.
