Thursday daily sheep summary

Lamb numbers at CTLX increased 2% to 10,400 head. It was a very good quality yarding with well-finished young lambs well represented and the usual buyers competed.
Sheep throughput jumped 59%, to 4,600 head. Quality was good, with most prime conditioned ewes and wethers selling to a cheaper trend.
- Light weight 2 score young lambs sold to a top of 640¢, averaging 579¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score young lambs were back 90¢, on 470¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 4 score young lambs eased 23¢, to average 527¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy 4 score young lambs averaged 512¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 4 score crossbred ewes averaged 302¢, up 2¢/kg cwt
It was a near capacity yarding at Hamilton selling centre with 53,310 lambs penned, up 19% week-on-week. A full contingent of buyers was present with some extra northern domestic and export buyers present and operating competitively. It was a very good quality yarding with all grades well represented.
- Light weight 2 score young lambs to restockers improved 28¢, to average 543¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score young lambs averaged 512¢, up 30¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score young lambs improved 45¢, to average 534¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy 4 score young lambs lifted 32¢ on 522¢/kg cwt
At the close of Wednesday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator increased 1¢ on 551¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs eased 3¢ on 478¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were up 12¢ on 512¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were up 4¢ on 517¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were up 9¢ on 522¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator eased 1¢ on 333¢/kg cwt
