Lamb throughput at CTLX was 28% higher week-on-week, at 10,900 head, and there were some excellent heavy weight and trade weight lambs on offer, along with a large selection of secondary lambs. Light weight 2 score restocker lambs eased 2¢ on 599¢, while 3 score trade weight lambs were back 4¢ on 608¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight 4 score lambs fell 12¢ on 598¢, while extra heavy 4 score lambs slipped 11¢ and averaged 602¢/kg cwt. Sheep consignments were down 26%, on 3,200 head, and most grades sold to a cheaper trend. Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes declined 25¢ and averaged 409¢/kg cwt.

Lamb offerings at Hamilton were 3% lower, at 5,356 head, and overall quality was plainer, although there were some very good pens of trade and heavy weight lambs on offer. Light weight 3 score lambs fell 11¢ on 622¢, while 3 score trade weight lambs were back 18¢ on 623¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight 4 score lambs increased 20¢ on 621¢/kg cwt. Sheep throughput increased 23%, at 2,032 head, and quality improved across the yarding. Heavy weight crossbred ewes lifted 1¢ and averaged 386¢/kg cwt.

At the close of Wednesday’s markets, the eastern states restocker lamb indicator was down 10¢ on 566¢/kg cwt. Merino lambs eased 3¢ on 547¢, while light lambs slipped 5¢ on 564¢/kg cwt. Trade lambs decreased 3¢ on 602¢, while heavy lambs were back 1¢ on 602¢/kg cwt. The mutton indicator was 3¢ lower and finished on 401¢/kg cwt.
