Cattle
There was a very small yarding of trade and export cattle at Powranna and Killafaddy on Tuesday and with one major exporter still on a maintenance break, it is likely this has had an impact on saleyard numbers.
There were not enough cattle in any category to report a reliable quote.
- Yearling heifers sold from 284c to 346c/kg
- Beef cows made 236c to 250c/kg
Sheep
There was a larger yarding of lambs at Powranna and Killafaddy on Tuesday with fewer heavy pens and more store types. Apart from two half pens, all were old lambs and, with less export competition, heavy trade and heavy pens were $10 to $15/head cheaper, while lighter trade types were unchanged.
- Restockers bought light lambs for $76 to $86 and trade types for $98 to $101/head
- Exporters paid $58 to $82/head for light lambs
- Lighter trade lambs sold for $99 to $101/head
- Trade weights made from $110 to $124 and heavy weights sold from $119 to $137/head
There was another small number of mutton and most prices were similar to last sale.
- Very light sheep made $40 to $56/head
- Medium weights sold from $69 to $87 and heavy ewes $81 to $91/head
