Cattle

There was a smaller yarding of trade and export cattle at Killafaddy and Powranna on Tuesday, with about 47% being cows. Most prices were cheaper than last week's record levels although all sold at very good prices.

• Yearling steers made 302¢ to 348¢ and heifers returned 274¢ to 330¢/kg
• There were very few grown steers and heifers available

There was a mixed yarding of 91 cows and heavy cows eased 45¢ while most other classes were 12¢ to 20¢/kg cheaper.

• Restockers bought very light cows for 120¢ to 140¢/kg
• Exporters bought medium weight D1 cows for 188¢ to 232¢ and D2 cows for 220¢ to 250¢/kg
• Heavy D3 beef cows made 240¢ to 274¢ and averaged 260¢/kg

Sheep 

There was another small yarding of both sheep and lambs at Powranna and Killafaddy on Tuesday as the old lamb season starts to come to an end.

Lamb prices recovered last week's drop with all buyers back in the market.

• Light export lambs made $75 to $94/head
• Light trade weights returned $91 to $114/head
• Trade lambs sold from $112 to $143 and heavy weights sold between $135 and $155/head

There were very few mutton yarded with almost all being very heavy crossbred ewes that sold from $80 to $98/head.
