SA weekly sheep summary

Lambs
Overall lamb supply totalled 11,947 head, up 4% week-on-week.
- The SA Livestock Exchange consigned 10,493 head, up 2%
- Numbers at Naracoorte lifted by 20%, to 1,454 head
Light weight young lambs to feed reached 671¢ and averaged 611¢, slipping 27¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 4 scores to slaughter were 51¢ cheaper, on 555¢/kg cwt.
Light weight 2 score old lambs to processors were 43¢ dearer, averaging 521¢ while similar Merino lambs were 5¢ dearer, on 463¢/kg cwt.
Trade weight 3 score Merino lambs reached 510¢ and averaged 472¢, easing 9¢, while those to slaughter gained 38¢, to return 530¢/kg cwt.
Heavy Merino lambs were reduced by 10¢ to return an average of 471¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Total mutton consignments reached 3,410 head, up 27% week-on-week.
- Supply at SA Livestock Exchange lifted by 11% to 2,322 head
- Naracoorte nearly doubled in size, to offer 1,088 head
Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes eased 3¢, averaging 302¢, with the heavy weights were also back 3¢, on 314¢/kg.
Medium weight Merino wethers averaged 317¢ and heavy Merino wethers were 14¢ dearer, on 362¢/kg cwt.
