SA weekly sheep summary

Lamb
Total SA lamb consignments, at MLA reported saleyards, increased 9% week-on-week, to offer a total of 24,304 head.
- Throughput at SA Livestock Exchange eased 8%, to 10,673 head
- Numbers at Naracoorte lifted 27%, to 13,631 head
New season light weight 2 score lambs sold to restockers at a height of 614¢, averaging 536¢, down 12¢/kg cwt. Light 3 score lambs to slaughter jumped 33¢, to average 548¢ while light 3 score feeder lambs slipped 15¢, averaging 494¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 3 score new season lambs decreased 12¢, to average 494¢/kg cwt.
Old season Merino light weight 2 score lambs were 25¢ cheaper, averaging 419¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Total mutton throughput jumped 10% week-on-week, to offer 6,134 head.
- Throughput at the SA Livestock Exchange was up by 12%, totalling 3,512 head
- Consignments at Naracoorte reached 2,622 head, up 10%
Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes fell 23¢, selling between 238¢ and 296¢ and averaging 278¢/kg cwt.
Heavy weight Merino ewes were also cheaper, back 13¢ week-on-week, averaging 251¢/kg cwt.
