SA weekly cattle summary

Supplies back slightly
SA saleyard cattle throughput was back 3% week-on-week, with 3,914 head offered.
- SA Livestock Exchange led the decline, with just 239 brought forward, back 50% week-on-week
- Mount Gambier throughput reached 1,262 head, up 2%
- Numbers at Mount Compass lifted by 5%, to 1,000 head
- Naracoorte yarded 1,413 head, up 3%
Trade yearling prices lift
Heavy C3 vealer steers improved 3¢, averaging 328¢, while the medium and heavy weight heifer lines eased 5¢ and 4¢, respectively, to average 319¢ and 321¢/kg, respectively.
Medium C2 yearling feeder steers eased 5¢, averaging 310¢ and selling to 335¢/kg. Heavy C3 yearling trade steers improved 7¢, averaging 327¢, while the heifers gained 2¢, averaging 318¢/kg.
Heavy C3 grown steers to slaughter slipped 11¢, to average 320¢, while the C3 bullocks improved 5¢, averaging 327¢/kg. Light (0-540kg) D3 grown heifers averaged 292, up 17¢/kg week-on-week.
Medium D3 beef cows jumped 22¢, averaging 256¢ and making a top of 290¢/kg. Heavy D3 and D4 line eased 3¢ and 8¢, respectively, averaging 267¢ and 264¢/kg.
