Supplies ease
SA saleyard throughput, at MLA reported saleyards, jumped 21% week-on-week, to 4,696 head, with all selling centres recording an increase.
- Throughput at the SA Livestock Exchange reached 498 head, up 31%
- Consignments at Naracoorte also lifted, up 35%, to offer 1,774 head
- Mt Gambier’s yarding jumped 18%, to 1,324 head
- Mt Compass numbers experienced a lift of 5%, to offer 1,100 head
Most descriptions dearer
Heavy vealer steers to slaughter reached 347¢ and averaged 332.5¢, to be 1¢ cheaper, while similar vealer heifers sold between 300¢ and 335¢ and averaged 324.4¢, up 3¢/kg.
Yearling steers in the C3 heavy weight category bought by processors lifted 1¢ to average 317.3¢/kg. Heavy weight C2 yearling heifers also to processors returned 278.3¢, up 1¢, while C3’s eased 5¢, to 312.2¢/kg.
Medium weight C3 grown steers remained firm on 318¢ and heavy weight C4’s to slaughter jumped 65¢, to average 331.5¢/kg. Heavy weight C3 grown heifers to slaughter sold for an average of 307.5¢, to be 24¢/kg dearer.
Heavy weight cows to processors returned 248.6¢ for D2’s, up 7¢, while D3’s made 261.2¢, back 3¢ and D4’s lifted 3¢, to average 266.2¢/kg.
