SA weekly cattle summary

Supplies return
SA saleyard throughput this week lifted 18%, to 4,606 head.
- Throughput at SA Livestock Exchange tripled, at 750 head
- Consignments at Naracoorte lifted 10%, to 1,556 head
- Mt Gambier increased 3%, to 1,300 head
- Mt Compass was steady, at 1,000 head
Trade cattle ease, grown cattle improve
Medium C3 vealer heifers to the trade jumped 12¢, averaging 332¢, but most yearlings to the same orders eased on last week’s rates. Heavy C3 yearling trade steers slipped 12¢, averaging 315¢, while the same heifer lines eased 4¢, averaging 314¢/kg.
Light (200-280kg) C2 yearling steers to restockers jumped 32¢, averaging 329¢, while medium C2 heifers to the same orders eased 10¢, averaging 304¢/kg.
Heavy C3 grown steers improved 1¢, averaging 320¢ and selling to 338¢, while light C3 grown heifers gained 14¢, averaging 305¢/kg.
Heavy D2 cows to slaughter jumped 24¢, averaging 230¢, while the D3 lines eased 6¢, averaging 261¢/kg.
