NSW weekly sheep summary

Lambs
Lamb consignments throughout NSW, at the MLA reported markets, remained close to equal week-on-week, for a total of 109,314 head. Dubbo gained 21%, for a total of 25,830 head, while Tamworth slipped 7%, to pen 3,500 lambs. Forbes increased its yarding by 7% to offer 36,800 lambs and CTLX penned 27% fewer lambs at 7,900 head. Wagga lost 8% and offered 32,200 lambs while Inverell continued its fortnightly market and penned 2,918 head.
New season trade weight lambs lost $4 to $6, as prices ranged from $108 to $149/head, or an average price of 615c/kg cwt. Trade weight older lambs sold $5 to $7 cheaper, with values averaging from $115 to $129, with the best at $144/head. These categories averaged from 558c to 572c/kg cwt. The heavy weights fell by $9 to $11, making from $127 to $197/head, or an average price from 552c to 568c/kg cwt. The best of the heavy weight Merino lambs sold from $135 to $140/head, and attained an estimated average price of 562c/kg cwt.
Mutton
Sheep numbers increased by 7% week-on-week, for a total of 32,877 head. Dubbo penned 6,475 sheep, and Tamworth offered 1,450 head. CTLX yarded 3,000 head, while Forbes penned 9,400 sheep. Wagga consigned 11,100 head, with Inverell offering 1,452 sheep.
Sheep trended $3 to $6 cheaper throughout most of the categories, with the medium and heavy weights selling from $65 to $150/head and recorded an average price from 389c to 437c/kg cwt.
