NSW weekly sheep summary

Lambs

Lamb consignments throughout NSW slipped by 7%, week-on-week, for a total of 103,742 head.

• Dubbo eased 3% for a total of 28,700 head
• Tamworth nearly halved at 2,500 lambs
• Forbes slipped by 44%, to pen 24,937 head
• CTLX decreased by 13% for 6,250 head
• Wagga penned similar numbers for a total of 25,400 lambs
• Corowa added an extra 12%, to total 8,972 head
• Cootamundra continued its fortnightly market and yarded 4,700 lambs

New season trade weight lambs sold firm to $3 dearer, making from $114 to $158/head, or an average price from 605c to 621c/kg cwt. Trade weight older lambs increased by $4 to $6, ranging from $100 to $157/head and attained an average price from 576c to 596c/kg cwt. The heavy weight lambs lifted from $2 to $6, to sell from $130 to $208/head, or an average price from 579c to 606c/kg cwt. The best of the heavy weight Merino lambs averaged around the 523c to 570c/kg cwt range.

Mutton

Sheep numbers increased by 10%, week-on-week, for a total of 34,483 head.

• Dubbo penned 5,165 sheep, as Tamworth offered 1,000 head.
• CTLX yarded 2,450 head, while Forbes penned 6,040 sheep
• Wagga consigned 11,000 head, with Corowa offering 3,358 sheep
• Cootamundra penned 3,800 head

Sheep sold firm to $3 cheaper, with the medium and heavy weights selling from $55 to $149/head, or an estimated average from 351c to 408c/kg cwt.
