NSW weekly sheep summary

Lambs

Lamb consignments throughout NSW increased by 26%, week-on-week, for a total of 117,456 head.

• Dubbo lifted by 22% for a total of 32,680 head.
• Tamworth gained 16% for 3,000 lambs.
• Forbes increased by 36% and penned 33,019 head.
• CTLX lost 12% to total 3,100 lambs.
• Wagga penned an extra 43% to yard 32,000 head.
• Corowa nearly doubled its numbers compared to last week and totalled 11,198 lambs.
• Inverell continued its fortnightly market to offer 2,459 head.

New season trade weight lambs trended $3 to $6 cheaper, making from $104 to $155/head, or an average price from 584¢ to 607¢/kg cwt.

Trade weight older lambs slipped $1 to $4, ranging from $96 to $146/head and attained an average price from 556¢ to 573¢/kg cwt.

The heavy weight lambs sold $2 either side of firm, to sell from $133 to $210/head, or an average price from 582¢ to 600¢/kg cwt.

The best of the heavy weight Merino lambs sold from $144 to $155/head and averaged around the 551c¢/kg cwt.

Mutton

Sheep numbers increased by 24% week-on-week for a total of 33,036 head. Dubbo penned 7,270 sheep, as Tamworth offered 650 head.

• CTLX yarded 3,900 head, while Forbes penned 7,789 sheep.
• Wagga consigned 9,000 head
• Corowa offered 3,367 sheep, as Inverell penned 1,062 head.

Sheep averaged close to firm, with the medium and heavy weights selling from $55 to $135/head, or an estimated average for the better finished end of 390¢ to 430¢/kg cwt.
