Narromine store sale follows prime market trends

Yardings at the monthly Narromine store sheep sale remained seasonally high, reported by MLA’s NLRS, at 15,265 head, although slightly lower than last month’s sale. The yarding consisted of a good selection of first cross ewes, along with a good mixture of both young and old Merino ewes.
The first cross ewe market was around $20 cheaper than the previous sale, in line with current prime market corrections, with joinable one year old ewes selling from $130 to $181/head. Plainer quality one year old ewes sold from $92 to $105, while the 2015 drops sold from $96 to $108/head. Store lambs sold to solid competition ranging in price from $62 to $100/head.
The Merino ewe market was also cheaper, with a top quality line of July/August 2014 drop ewes, April shorn and NSM, selling for $134/head. The balance of the better quality 2014 drop ewes sold from $81 to $118, while the plainer quality lines sold from $51 to $76/head. A top quality line of six year old Merino ewes, January shorn, sold for $116, while the balance of the mixed age and older ewes sold from $50 to $106/head.
Two lines of Merino ewes with White Suffolk lambs at foot sold for $84 to $87/head. A single line of April/May 2015 drop ewes, unshorn, sold for $55, while two lines of young wethers, unshorn, sold for $40 and $56/head.
