Friday daily sheep summary

Wagga lamb yardings increased 12% week-on-week, to 28,000 head. Overall quality of consignments had slipped with a number of lambs showing dryness. Good quality, well-bred store lambs were well supplied and local restockers were active across all weight categories. New season trade lambs were in reasonable supply and sold to keen demand. The usual processor buyers were in attendance although not all domestic buyers operated.
Sheep consignments dropped 20% week-on-week, to 8,000 head. Quality was very good across all categories with plenty of heavy weights on offer. Most grades sold to a dearer trend.
- New season light weight 2 score restocker lambs slipped 22¢ to 559¢/kg cwt
- New season trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter gained 3¢ to 519¢/kg cwt
- New season heavy weight 3 score lambs were 17¢ dearer at 534¢/kg cwt
- New season extra heavy weight 4 score lambs to slaughter fell 17¢ to 486¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 5 score Merino ewes rallied 29¢ to average 326/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator closed 1¢ cheaper on 542¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs fell 12¢ on 443¢ cwt
- Light lambs dropped 2¢ on 478¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs eased 1¢ on 501¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were 1¢ dearer on 499¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator gained 1¢ on 326¢/kg cwt
