Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb numbers at Wagga jumped 17%, to 35,000 head. Increased selection of secondary lambs resulted in a cheaper trend, with heavier lines better supplied. The usual group of buyers attended, however not all were operating. Increased restocker activity also saw young lambs sell dearer week-on-week.
Sheep consignments eased 20%, to 10,000 head, with Merino wethers in high demand from restockers due to cheaper price trends.
- Light weight 2 score new season lambs to restockers dropped 12¢, to 552¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score new season lambs were down 40¢ on 491¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score old season lambs dropped 27¢ on 528¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old season lambs eased 35¢ on 526¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes were 37¢ lower on 254¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator was up 5¢ on 523¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs were on 439¢, back 16¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were on 488¢, back 2¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were on 507¢, back 6¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were on 524¢, back 2¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator finished on 292¢, back 10¢/kg cwt
