Friday daily sheep summary

Wagga lamb numbers dropped 54% week-on-week, to 16,000 head, in the last sale of 2015. Quality was mixed across all categories and well-bred second cross store lambs were well supplied, with increased activity from restockers. The usual group of buyers were in attendance and most categories sold to a dearer trend.
Sheep yardings were down 30% week-on-week to 7,000 head of fair to good quality offerings. There was strong demand from restockers, and all categories sold to a dearer trend.
- Trade weight 3 score young lambs to slaughter sold 51¢ dearer on 555¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 3 score young lambs averaged 557¢/kg cwt, jumping 41¢
- Light weight old lambs to restockers averaged 570¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight Merino ewes gained 25¢ to average 298¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator was on 511¢/kg cwt, back 5¢
- Merino lambs were on 416¢, up 14¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were on 481¢, up 3¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were on 515¢, up 4¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were on 531¢, up 2¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator finished on 257¢, down 7¢/kg cwt
