Two MLA Carbon EDGE workshops coming to Victoria

08 August 2024

Red meat producers in Victoria are encouraged to sign up and participate in Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) popular Carbon EDGE program, coming to the state twice in late-August.

The workshops are now available at a further subsidised rate of $600 + GST (valued at $1,750 + GST).

Workshop details:

  • Wodonga: 26–27 August
  • Bendigo: 29–30 August

The Carbon EDGE workshop will help participants move into a planning and action phase, identifying strategies and methods that could be incorporated into their business to benefit their bottom line and the environment. It is also suitable for advisors and other service providers looking to enhance their understanding of the current operating environment.

Both Carbon EDGE programs are being delivered by Kate Carmichael from Pinion Advisory. The workshops will deliver personalised information, small group learning, practical activities and case studies, data and examples from the local regions.

Over two days, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of:

  • their carbon account and emissions intensity, and how to change on-farm activities to reduce emissions
  • opportunities to improve productivity while reducing on-farm emissions
  • sequestration options such as trees and soil carbon, and evaluating if they are right for their business
  • supply chain drivers and how to future-proof market access.

These workshops will provide all the information producers need and set them up with an action plan for next steps.

Producers who have completed a Carbon EDGE workshop have said the program:

  • “Really helped me to gain a better understanding of the actual accounting process and action planning to move beyond the theoretical.”
  • “For someone who is new to carbon, it was great information to understand in terms of the farm business.”
  • “Has assisted me to get started on capturing emissions and using the [carbon accounting] tools.”
  • “I have a good plan to implement supported by tools and resources from this course.”
