More beef for your buck at Kidman Springs
31 July 2024
Across three days, NT beef producers can achieve more, with two of MLA’s prominent beef workshops being combined.
From 19–21 August, MLA’s BredWell FedWell beef workshop and BeefUp Forum will be held consecutively in Kidman Springs, providing an opportunity for producers to attend both courses in one location.
Tailored for the region
MLA Northern Beef Adoption project manager Sarah Hassall said the joint workshops provide an opportunity for producers and anyone attending to build skills that fall across various areas of their business.
“The BeefUp Forum is tailored to the region, and it provides a chance for producers, advisors, researchers, or anyone who wants to, the opportunity to come along and learn about the latest research, tools and technologies in their own region,” Sarah said.
Participants will learn about the latest research that presents opportunities for the Northern Territory beef industry, nutrition, biosecurity, genetics, animal welfare and much more, with an action-packed agenda planned.
“Those interested can add BredWell FedWell to their itinerary, which will be held the day before the BeefUp Forum,” Sarah said.
“This workshop aims to cover the importance of good breeding and feeding, which can increase your profit, especially when you have a developed breeding objective.”
The one-day workshop also includes on-farm learning activities.
“It’s very interactive and individualised, so attendees come away with outcomes they can apply to their own business operations.”
A first for the combined workshop
The combined event is the first time that attendees will have had the opportunity to access both workshops at one time, in one location.
“This location is so vast, so combining the two events is a great opportunity for people attending BeefUp to delve deeper into the genetic gain aspect of their business and how they can make better breeding decisions,” Sarah said.
“Given people are travelling so far, we want to build as much value for them as possible. The three days are also a great opportunity to interact with different people.”
