Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) has announced that Dr Jane Weatherley, General Manager Research and Adoption, will conclude her role in April 2025.
MLA Managing Director, Michael Crowley thanked Dr Weatherley for her 18 years of service to MLA.
“Jane has made an immense contribution over her tenure. Her leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving MLA's success in delivering research, communications and adoption activities. We wish her all the best in her new role and future endeavours,” Mr Crowley said.
As General Manager, Research and Adoption, Dr Weatherley led delivery of MLA’s $280m research portfolio across sustainability, genetics, production, animal welfare and biosecurity projects.
Jane first joined MLA in 2006 as a Project Officer for Producer Capacity Building where she developed and led successful adoption programs including the More Beef from Pastures program, Producer Demonstration Sites, and the EdgeNetwork program.
Dr Weatherley was the inaugural CEO of Integrity Systems Company (ISC) establishing and rolling out red meat integrity and information systems. Through ISC, her contribution assisted the Australian red meat industry to secure and maintain global competitiveness and capture price premiums through higher levels of product assurance.
“Every day working at MLA has been a pleasure. I’ve worked with a team of the most intelligent, committed, and passionate individuals whose drive and determination makes MLA an incredible organisation,” she said.
Dr Weatherley will take on the role of Executive Director, Agriculture, with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD).
“I’m pleased that I will be able to continue to collaborate with MLA in my new role and see the company deliver important long-term research and development projects,” Dr Weatherley said.
Dr Weatherley’s final day with MLA will be April 11. Recruitment for the GM RDA position will commence soon.
