July a milestone month for cattle prices

July was a milestone month for cattle prices. As such, a month in review was deemed necessary. Below is a summary of cattle prices across the supply chain for steers, heifers, cows and bulls, all at National Livestock Reporting Service (NLRS) reported saleyards.

These are July month averages. $/head rate takes into account lwt price and weight of the animal sold, therefore reflecting a holistic price as opposed to an indicator for a specific type of cattle.

Note: Steers and heifers include yearlings and growns.
