South African study tour

19 November 2018

Expressions of interest are now open for Australian goat producers to join a study tour of South Africa in 2019.

South Africa's goat industry is one of the leaders in goat management and production. The Boer goat, the main meat breed, was developed there in the 1950s.

This study tour is an opportunity to learn first hand from commercially focused South African goatmeat industry leaders. Participating producers will gain an insight into practices that could be adapted to Australian circumstances to increase profitability and production within their goat herd.

Places are strictly limited and a deposit will be required to secure your spot. The final agenda, timing and expected cost for participants is being developed. Australian producers with contacts in South Africa and suggestions for farm tour locations are welcome to contact the organisers.
