Five reasons to attend a BeefUp forum
23 February 2022
BeefUp forums are one- and two-day events that run across Queensland, NT and northern WA, delivering updates on the latest research and adoption programs for the red meat industry.
Here are five reasons to attend:
1. Discover something new every time
Every BeefUp program features a variety of topics and speakers who cover local and world-leading research and development (R&D). You’ll get plenty of practical information and ideas to take back to your day-to-day work in the industry.
Come along to get the latest on:
- market insights, cattle projections and trends
- projects happening in your region and beyond
- how new practices and technologies are being used locally to improve herd, land and business performance.
The programs cover everything from nutrition and reproduction to land management, carbon farming and marketing.
2. Local matters
Every BeefUp program is different. Programs are planned with the support of local committees who help to identify topics with significance in your region. Delve into topics that reflect your environment and production systems and hear from other producers about their experiences putting R&D into action in a similar context.
Every event includes a priority-setting session so you can also tell us what matters to you, which helps to inform MLA’s future investment.
3. Catch up with others across the industry
Every BeefUp event provides the opportunity to get together with old faces and new. Whilst there is plenty of time to cover the program, there’s also plenty of time to catch up with other attendees, local advisors and expert presenters. Stay around for dinner (included) to make the most of your time at the event.
4. Get out of your seat
Many BeefUp forums include demonstrations and opportunities to learn in a practical environment. This includes everything from cattle assessments to butchery. In some cases, BeefUps are also scheduled to tie into local events like shows and sales.
5. Two steps forward
BeefUp forums are just one of many opportunities to further your knowledge and skills. The forums will highlight programs and resources available to you to take your development forward – whether that be through a field day, getting involved in a producer demonstration site, or participating in a training program – there’s something for everyone and plenty on offer! There will be plenty of people you can speak to at the BeefUp to learn more.
