Find out the 2025 industry projections for cattle and sheep
07 March 2025
MLA will release the 2025 Cattle and Sheep Industry Projections on Monday 10 March (9am AEDT).
The projection documents are a long-standing initiative providing the Australian red meat industry with insights into the major influences on the sector in the short to medium term.
From producers to processors and exporters, MLA consults along the supply chain to understand the significant impacts on the production outputs of the red meat sector.
The projection documents step through the domestic and global supply and demand dynamics, including herd, slaughter, production, carcase weight, export and live export forecasts for a three-year period. These forecasts are based on and sense-checked by broad consultation with the industry, allowing for an accurate perspective. The documents are released twice a year, first in March, followed by an update in September.
The MLA Market Information team will be hosting webinars to present the release of the Cattle Industry Projections and Sheep Industry Projections.
These webinars will delve into the documents' findings, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask the Market Information team questions about the Projections document and its associated values.
The cattle webinar will be held via Teams on Tuesday 11 March (11am AEDT), and the sheep webinar on Wednesday 12 March (11am AEDT).
