Apply now for GIRDAC positions 2024
10 September 2024
MLA is calling for applications from commercial farmed goat producers and technical extension specialists to fill two available committee positions on the Goat Industry Research, Development and Adoption Committee (GIRDAC).
GIRDAC is an advisory group which provides recommendations on where goat levy funds are invested in research, development and adoption (RD&A) initiatives for the Australian goatmeat and livestock industry.
GIRDAC convenes virtually four times a year to review RD&A funding proposals, progress of existing projects and results of concluding projects.
It operates independently to the Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) as an MLA appointed and funded committee.
The committee has a national focus and is comprised of commercial goat producers along with value chain, service providers and subject matter expert representatives as required.
GIRDAC members provide advice and endorsement relating to goat levy R&D priorities, terms of reference development and review, appointment of service providers and review of current project progress.
Interested commercial farmed goat producers and technical extension specialists are encouraged to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) not exceeding two pages to MLA, addressing the following selection criteria:
- details of experience within the goat industry, specifically commercial farmed goats
- details of any experience in research, development and adoption
- an outline of skills and experience the candidate brings to GIRDAC
- why the candidate would like to be part of GIRDAC.
