The 'Enhanced Worm Management' EPDS aims to boost producers' knowledge and skills by demonstrating best practices in worm management, reducing the impact on individual sheep enterprises in East Gippsland and the broader industry.

This is a three-year project under MLA and Agriculture Victoria’s co-funded EPDS program, run in conjunction with the Bairnsdale Bestwool/BestLamb group.

As part of this exciting project, several East Gippsland producers have embarked on Worm Egg Count Reduction Testing (WECRT), also known as drench resistance testing, to uncover the effectiveness of drenches in their flocks.

Join Ben Blomfield, Bairnsdale BestWool/BestLamb group coordinator and veterinary consultant from Melbourne University's MacKinnon Project, in this upcoming webinar to dive into the results and discover why knowing your flock's drench resistance status is a game-changer for effective management.

Topics to be covered include:

  • common worm species and their lifecycle
  • contributing factors to drench resistance
  • results of the resistance testing as part of this project
  • options to manage resistance
  • question and answer time.

The Enhanced Producer Demonstration Site (EPDS) program is co-funded by Meat & Livestock Australia and Agriculture Victoria. MLA’s PDS program supports producers to adapt, validate and demonstrate the business value of integrating new management practices and skills into their local farming systems.
