Carbon Neutral Cattle Production in Northeast Victoria – Field Day
The field day will commence at the Warrenbayne Hall for the morning session with formal presentations and move 2.5 kilometres to Glenisla for the afternoon on farm session. Glenisla was a National Farm Forestry demonstration site set up in the 1990’s - it is now an example of a Carbon Neutral cattle grazing enterprise. The Field Day will provide information on the Meat & Livestock Australia, Carbon Neutral 2030 Program and their Carbon Accounting tools. Prominent will be the role of trees in Carbon sequestration and their impact on livestock production. The Field Day will include:
- Facilitator Rowan Reid, Bambra Agroforestry Farm
- Presentation by Dr Margaret Jewell, MLA CN30 Program Manager. Topic, the MLA CN30 Program and the role of farm forestry in Carbon sequestration.
- Dr Rachelle Myer and Dr Hugh Stewart, The University of Melbourne - An overview of the Trees on Farms project that is supporting the MLA CN30 Program. The role of trees in improving livestock production. Market opportunities for farm forestry.
- Dr Russell Washusen, Glenisla and Rowan Reid - The Glenisla case study. Farm planning with forestry for multiple benefits, changes in Carbon sequestration and cattle production over time. Onsite inspection of tree and pasture management
