Greater China

The Greater China team has operated in Beijing since 2004.  Operations in Shanghai commenced in 2018, and Hong Kong office in 2024.  MLA has been in Taiwan since 1990.  The MLA Greater China team currently consists of 9 staff who deliver a broad range of programs on behalf of the Australian red meat industry.

The Greater China region encompasses a collection of several markets at different stages of maturity. This is both a challenge and an opportunity – as the market offers frequently changing demands for a spectrum of products and opportunities for those exporters with market access.

The Greater China market (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau) has grown rapidly over many years and is now Australia’s second largest beef and largest sheepmeat export market by volume, exporting 231,075 tonnes of beef and 157,391 tonnes of sheepmeat to the market in 2024.
