Dry Time Ready
Creating a climate-resilient feeding plan
Developed using knowledge and skills gained in Australia’s most recent droughts, this training package brings together the latest research and livestock management techniques to train producers in establishing a plan to deal with a dry period.
What you will learn
- techniques and strategies to reduce the financial, emotional and environmental impact of drought
- how to set up a cost-effective feeding plan in line with productivity goals
- how to apply a framework to the drought management decision making process
- how to conduct an audit of the resources necessary for you to implement a drought management plan.
This six-session training package is delivered over a 12-month period and will leave you with a detailed, written plan for your enterprise.
The training was developed to align with standards for risk management (establishing context and then identifying, analysing, evaluating, and treating the risks). It starts with establishing the feed requirements of the current livestock enterprise, then moves into developing and costing a suitable feeding regime and, finally, conducting a resource audit on the requirements to execute the plan.
