Each forum is designed by producers from the local region through producer working groups to ensure topics, content and presenters are regionally relevant.
Held predominantly throughout southern Australia, MeatUp forums demonstrate the value of implementing new practices or technologies on-farm.
They also create awareness around other MLA activities and programs that producers can get involved in to further build their knowledge and skills.

MeatUp forums often include a virtual farm tour and attendees can engage with the host during an interactive Q&A session. Here are some virtual farm tours from past forums:
CC Cooper & Co, Jamestown, SA
Meet Seth, Tom and Leith Cooper who operate a mixed farming family enterprise. Consisting of six properties across SA, NSW and WA, the Cooper’s discuss how they manage their three main income streams including livestock, grain and hay production.
Chilwell Farms, Condingup, WA
The Fowlers manage a mixed cattle, sheep and cropping enterprise. Watch this virtual tour to find out how they make every hectare of their property profitable through a high stocking rate, high return livestock program.
Spicers Run, Spicers Creek, NSW
Spicers Run is a 3,800ha property, 30 kilometers north of Wellington. Spicers Run is owned and managed by the Mason family. Brothers Joe and Sam Mason produce first cross ewes and prime lambs along with cereal and oilseed grain production.
CC Seymour & Co, South Killanoola, SA
Meet property manager Dean Eastwood and Robert and Digby Seymour. The property consists of a self-replacing composite flock producing prime lamb, Hampshire Down stud, Hereford and Angus cattle herd, and a dryland and irrigated share farm cropping business
Winter forage PDS, Casino, NSW
Meet Tom, Ronny, Joe and John who participated in an MLA Producer Demonstration Site (PDS). This project demonstrated the productive value of winter forage crops and managed tropical grasses in north-eastern NSW for beef breeding herds.
Goldmine Hill Farms, Lock, SA
Owner of Goldmine Hill Farms, Kerran Glover provides insights into how he managed his mixed sheep and cropping enterprise through an expansion phase – purchasing four properties over an eight-year period.
Kilchatten, Green Range, WA
Producer Jeremy Walker from ‘Kilchatten Farms’ in Green Range showcases the changes he has implemented on-farm with a realistic look at the reasons behind each decision, the success and failures.
BAM Pastoral, ‘Yaralla’, Cunnamulla, QLD
BAM Pastoral is a 24,000ha station in south-west Queensland, 180km south of Cunnamulla. Owned and managed by Ben and Andrea McKenzie, the property runs predominantly goats, meat sheep and trade cattle. In addition to commercial livestock operations, the operation includes a goat breeding program for Kalahari and red Boer stud goats.

The MLA adoption pathway is made up of three stepping stones; awareness activities, short term training programs, and long term practice change activities.
MeatUp forums are an awareness activity as they are focused on informing producers of the latest R&D relating to livestock production. Influence and motivate activities allow producers to increase their knowledge and skills of the latest livestock production practices by participating in training activities like workshops or electronic learning modules. Involve and partner activities see producers learning from other producers and with guidance from consultants in implementing the latest livestock production practices into their business.
