Goat Data Collation and Tracking project

The Goat Industry Data Collation and Tracking project improves the goatmeat industry’s access to reliable data and builds its capacity to forecast supply and population changes.

The project supports the industry’s development by informing supply-chain and market development, strategic planning and the evaluation of challenges and opportunities.

Overview

The project aims to:

  • Collate and report reliable and accurate data, including the number of goats supplied for processing from each region in Australia.
  • Refine supply and population modelling.
  • Coordinate and the National Goatmeat Supply Forecasting Committee

National Goatmeat Forecasting Committee

The National Goatmeat Supply Forecasting Committee meets annually to estimate the number of goats that will be supplied for processing in the upcoming year. The Committee consists of six representatives from various supply chain sectors.
