The purpose of the MLA Sustainability Update is to capture in one place the significant level of MLA’s investments in sustainability across the red meat supply chain as aligned to industry’s priority areas. This update captures industry’s rigorous and significant compliance requirements as required by relevant federal and state government legislation and regulations and our alignment to critical international benchmarks and best practice. The update demonstrates our investments in sustainability, our commitment to transparency of our production systems and our unwavering focus on continuous improvement through proactive adoption and practice change.

Sustainability includes the production of livestock in a way that is environmentally, socially and financially responsible with respect to our people, our animals and our natural resources, today and for future generations. Sustainability represents the red meat and livestock industry’s best business case for success and MLA’s research and development (R&D) investments are focused on clearly demonstrating that sustainability goes hand in hand with profitability and profitability and long term inter-generational success.
