Join MLA at Beef Australia 2024

Beef Australia held one of its most successful events yet during 5 –11 May, which MLA is proud to have been a part of. As the biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, Beef2024 brought together all aspects of the beef industry, including producers, chefs, feedlotters, processors, researchers, and stakeholders from across the supply chain. In 2024, MLA championed the theme of sustainability from paddock to plate

Some highlights from Beef2024 included:

  • 119,324 movements through the gates
  • drawing more than 600 international delegates from across 35 countries
  • engaging over 720 primary and high school students across 26 Australian Good Meat Education sessions
  • Beef TV being streamed live by 79,000 people across the world
  • more than 12,500 ticketed meals enjoyed
  • 10 celebrity chefs showcasing their kitchen skills
  • over 1,300 head of cattle from across 28 breeds being judged in Centre Ring
  • over 40 Australian political leaders, including the Prime Minister of Australia and the Premier of Queensland attending
  • over 1,600 head of cattle sold for over $3.9 million in the 2024 Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship Sale of Champions
  • over 3,800 students participated in the School's Program with an additional 1,200 students visiting outside of this program
  • 5 tonne of beef being served onsite throughout the week.

MLA looks forward to seeing you at Rockhampton in 2027 to do it all over again from 2 –8 May, 2027.

 


MLA hosted seminars

MLA hosted two seminars in the James Lawrence Pavilion during Beef Australia’s multi-day event. Both seminars ran for 90 minutes.

Attendees heard about sustainability, customers, and what they mean for the future of the beef industry.


Tech Yards and Innovation Hub

Located near the Machinery Precinct and Fashion and Lifestyle Precinct, The Ken Coombe OAM Tech Yards and Innovation Hub was a buzzing showcase of the latest and up and coming ag tech and carbon solutions.

At the locations NBN stage, MLA’s Carbon Neutral 2030 (CN30) Project Manager Julia Waite presented three times over the week as part of the NBN Tech & Innovation Talks.


MLA display marquee

MLA’s trade display marquee was based near the McKenzie Pavilion. 

Throughout the week thousands of vistors came to talk to our staff about our latest programs and resources, learn about our latest research and developments, and listen in to our lightning presentations.


MLA’s Australian Good Meat schools program

The Beef Australia Suncorp Bank School’s Program, supported by MLA’s Australian Good Meat Education, was also present at Beef Australia 2024.

The program aims to engage Prep-Year 12 students and their teachers with the Australian beef industry through extensive in-classroom and at-event learning. Currently over 70 Queensland schools have registered, delivering ag-education to more than 4,000 students in the lead-up to Beef Australia 2024.
